The University of Portsmouth and the National Museum of the Royal Navy wish to appoint two new Lecturer/Research Fellows in order to expand their existing successful range of research collaborations. The successful appointees will assist in the development of new museum galleries and work with others to develop and launch a new Masters degree programme in Naval History.
Each post will combine 0.5 fte Lecturing at the University of Portsmouth and 0.5 fte Research work with the NMRN in the History of the Royal Navy.
One post will focus on the the Age of Sail, circa 1600-1815 and the other History of the Royal Navy and the British Empire, circa 1800-1914.
Applicants will require a breadth of knowledge of Naval History and to have, or be close to completing, a PhD and have experience of teaching in Higher Education.
The successful applicants will promote the National Museum of the Royal Navy as a centre for research through high quality publications and conference papers. In addition, they will develop suitable funding proposals for dealing with either research into, or the interpretation of, the Royal Navy. Closing date 26 November 2014.
